Heavy Equipment Technician Opening at DBM in Fernley, Nevada

Our 11 technicians run 10 service trucks out of the Fernley shop, and we are hiring one more heavy equipment technician. The new technician will repair machines back to factory standard at mine sites, on construction jobsites, and in the shop. If you are a diesel technician or a welder and are not looking to change jobs yet, you can still send us your experience. Most of our applicants write to us before we have an opening.

Field & Shop Technician Work at DBM

Our technicians repair machines from mini excavators to mining equipment, including XCMG, Caterpillar, and Case. The work happens in the Fernley shop or at mine sites and jobsites anywhere in Nevada and in California from Sacramento to Bakersfield. A job can take a few hours or several weeks. Our founder operated equipment at a mine, worked in mine maintenance, and worked as a dealer’s field technician before he started DBM with one service truck. The people who run our crew have done the same work our technicians do. In our 10 years, our crews have had no lost-time accidents, which means no one has missed work because of an injury on the job.

  • Factory-Standard Repairs Only

We repair every machine back to the way the factory built it, and we do not do temporary fixes that only get a machine running. Before we hire, we ask the shops and technicians you have worked with whether you repair machines that way.

  • Service Trucks Kept to Dealer Standard

We keep our service trucks as well as any dealer keeps its trucks. Each one carries its own crane, welder-generator, and tooling. The technicians who run them take pride in their repairs and push one another to improve.

  • Manufacturer Training on New Systems

Most of our training comes from the machine manufacturers. When a manufacturer releases a new system, our technicians attend its training to learn it. Three of our technicians completed XCMG factory training in August 2026.

What to Include When You Send Your Experience

Most of our hiring happens by word of mouth, and many technicians send us their experience before we have an opening. We keep every note on file until we hire our next technician. Please cover the four details below in yours.

  • Machines & Brands You Know

List the brands and classes of machines you have worked on, from compact equipment to haul trucks and mining shovels.

  • Shops, Dealers & Specialty Work

Name the shops and dealers you have worked for and any specialty work you have done, such as line boring, hydraulic repair, or structural welding. Also list any MSHA training or welding certification you hold.

  • One Repair You Diagnosed & Fixed

Describe what was wrong with the machine, how you found the cause, and how you repaired it.

  • Phone Number & Home Town

Give your phone number and the town where you live now, because our crews start from the Fernley shop and travel across Nevada and into California.

How to Apply for the Technician Opening

Send your experience through the Careers choice on our contact form, or call or text (775) 625-0062. Your note goes to the managers who hire our service crew.

We have very little turnover, and we are less strict about hours than most dealerships. A technician who wants to leave for a child’s afternoon ball game can go once the day’s work is done, or can finish that work the next day.

Apply Through the Contact Form

The contact form opens with Careers already chosen and asks for the machines you know, the work you have done, and a phone number or email address. After you send it, the screen shows a receipt of what you sent. The managers who hire our technicians reply by call, text, or email when an opening fits your work.
