Job stories and guides
When a customer’s demo compactor broke down after the customer signed to buy it, we paid for a competitor’s rental machine until we had the compactor running again. That story and two others from our own jobs are below. Each guide card opens the page on our site that answers one question, such as what to send dispatch when a machine goes down in the field, or how the rental purchase option counts part of your rent toward the price.

Why we paid for a competitor’s rental when a customer’s compactor broke down
What happened?
A customer had been running one of our compactors on a demo and decided to buy it. The customer signed the purchase paperwork. Before the financing had gone through, the compactor had a major breakdown.
What did we do?
We didn’t have another compactor to send. We rented a machine from a competitor, dropped it off at the customer’s site, and paid for that rental ourselves until we had the customer’s compactor running again. The rental cost us money. The customer’s crew kept working while the compactor they had just signed for was down.
What does that mean if your machine breaks down?
If a machine you rent from us breaks down, we come fix it where it is. If we can’t fix it the same day, we take the down time off your rent. If a repair will keep your own machine down for a while, we can deliver one of our rental machines to your site so the work keeps going. Our technician then repairs your machine on a later visit.
Why we told a customer not to buy a mini excavator from us
What did the customer ask for?
A customer came to us to buy a mini excavator. When we asked what he would do with it, he said he needed to put in a couple of small utility lines and dig a pit.
What did we recommend?
A mini excavator would have handled that first project. It wasn’t the right machine for the work he would do after that, and he would have regretted the purchase. We told him we wouldn’t sell him the excavator and explained that a small compact utility tractor would serve him better. We don’t carry compact utility tractors, so we gave him the name and phone number of someone we know who sells them.
What do we ask before we recommend a machine?
We ask what kind of work you do most, such as utility work or mass grading. We ask whether you work in small, tight areas, and what the machine will do after the job in front of you. Your answers decide which machine we recommend, even when the right machine is one we don’t sell.
Call or text us about your machine
The office line at (775) 625-0062 takes calls and texts. Tell us the machine, where it sits, and what you need from us, and send photos if you have them. The team that handles that work calls or texts you back. A request that reaches us after hours gets its answer the next day.
